Tomb of Imad – Ud – Daulah Agra

Nur Jahan built the tomb of Etamaduddaula on the banks of Yamuna in Agra in memory of his father. Jahangir, the son of Mughal emperor Akbar, gave the title of Atmadud Daula to his Begum Noorjahan’s father Mirza Gias Baig. This tomb of Etmadud Daula and his wife Asmat Jahan was built between 1622 and 1628.
This mausoleum is built in the middle of a garden of the Charbagh system, which is surrounded by high walls from all four sides. Standing on a raised sandstone platform, this tomb is made of white marble. The monument has a parallel quadrilateral central chamber containing the tomb of Wazir and his Begum-Asmat Begum. The tomb of Etmad-ud-daula is famous for its multi-colored embellishments and carvings all over the surface.

The winter season can proved an amazing time to enjoy a pleasant trip to Itimad-ud-Daulah Tomb as it is quite cool at that time of the year. The best season to visit Agra Fort is from October last to beginning March. It is also peak tourist season in Agra.
