Mehrangarh Fort Jodhpur
Mehrangarh Fort is located in Jodhpur in Rajasthan and is included in India’s largest fort. It was built by Rao Jodha in 1460. There are many palaces inside its border, which are particularly known for intricate carvings and expensive courtyards.
In addition to the seven gates which attract tourists to this fort, there are many luxurious style rooms like Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace), Phool Mahal (Phool Mahal), Daulat Khana, Sheesh Mahal (Darpan Palace) and Suresh Khan. Also, palacios, costumes, musical instruments, royal parlance and furniture are stored in the fort’s museum. A portion of the fort was converted into a museum, which houses a large collection of royal palanquins. Tope is also placed on the walls of the fort, due to which its beauty is also enhanced by four moons.There are also some temples and parks inside the fort which you must visit during your visit to the fort.
How to Reach
By road: Jodhpur is well connected by road to major cities of Rajasthan and neighboring states of Delhi, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh etc. Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) is the main transport provider.
By train: Jodhpur railway station is well connected to major cities like India, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad. Many trains pass through this junction regularly. Some of these trains include Howrah Jodhpur Express, Jodhpur Delhi Mandore Express, Jodhpur Indore Junction Ranthambore Express etc.
By air: Jodhpur Airport is a domestic airport with flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru via Air India and Jet Airways. Tourists from other cities in India as well as abroad can use Jaipur International Airport, which is 342 km away. The airport has regular flights to some major international cities like Pune, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, etc., such as Sharjah, Dubai, Muscat and Abu Dhabi.
