Mandor Garden Jodhpur
Jodhpur has been the center of Rajputana splendor through years. The proof of which is still found in many places adjoining the city of Jodhpur in the form of ancient buildings. There is a historical place 9 kilometers from Jodhpur, which is called the Mandor Garden. A train has also been named after this – Mandore Express which runs from Delhi to Jodhpur.
The ancient name of Mandor was ‘Mandavpur’. Before Jodhpur, Mandore was the capital of the princely state of Jodhpur. Rao Jodha considered Mandore to be unsafe and built Mehrangarh Fort on Chidi Koot mountain for protection and settled Jodhpur in his name and made it the capital of Marwar. At present only the ruins of Mandore fort remain, which are based on the Buddhist architectural style. In this fort, large stones were added with the help of any spices.
It is said that Mandore was the stronghold of the Parihar kings. For hundreds of years, the Parihar kings ruled the entire Marwar from here. After Chundaji Rathore married Parihar princess, Mandore got them in dowry, since then this ancient capital of Parihar kings was ruled by Rathore rulers.
