Jaisalmer Fort

India This huge Jaisalmer fort is built on the Trikuta Mountain of the Thar Desert in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. This fort was built in 1156 AD by “Rawal Jaisal”, a Rajput warrior. This fort also admits many important and historical battles that are why the fort was also named after him. The fort has walls of heavy yellow sandstone. The walls of this fort look light golden in the light of the sun during the day. For this reason, this fort is also known as Sonar Fort or Golden Fort. This fort is situated in the middle of the city and people come to see the fort as a historical heritage of Jaisalmer. Best time to visit

Jaisalmer has a hot and dry climate and it is very hot during the day during summer, but as the desert night falls, the temperature is dramatically reduced. But the best time to visit Jaisalmer is from October to March, basically the winter season. During this season, the desert area experiences pleasant weather conditions throughout the day which make a Jaisalmer trip even more enjoyable.

This grand fort of Jaisalmer can be reached by road, rail and air via all three routes. It is extremely well connected by all three routes. Jaisalmer Jodhpur Airport is 300 km away. Jodhpur is connected to all the major metros of India with state-owned private airlines. From Jodhpur you can hire cabs or travel as per your wish and preference. Trains directly from Jaisalmer are available to Jodhpur and Delhi.

There are many private and government bus services to reach it. Many trains leave via Jaisalmer. By which tourists can easily reach here either in public or by their private vehicles.
